Work Exchange

For each of our workshops (except the locations noted below), a few work exchange positions are available. We provide an $80 discount in exchange for help with studio set-up, maintenance and take-down.

Work exchange tasks take place outside of scheduled workshop times and will not take time away from your personal participation. Tasks are shared with a small group of staff and other work exchange assistants.

Studio set-up almost always takes place in the morning and the workshop begins that evening ( for our two-day workshops, the opening session is the next morning.) We ask you to help set up for about three hours. This is usually from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. (Set up at one or two of our locations, like Breitenbush Hot Springs, happens in the afternoon).

Studio take-down takes place at the end of our closing session. It takes about two hours, usually from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

Tasks include, but are not limited to: putting together our studio lights, cleaning paint jars and mixing colors, helping to organize and set out painting supplies, sweeping the floor, washing palettes and cups, carrying, washing and filling buckets of water, packing boxes.

Please Note: We cannot offer work exchange for Elohee, Esalen or Omega. These retreat centers have their own assistance programs. Please contact them directly for work exchange information.
