Professional chefs prepare the exquisite food at the Hui. The menu is exceptional! Fresh tropical fruits and vegetables from the organic gardens are featured, as are native fish, homemade desserts and other exotic specialties that have become such a memorable part of the Hui experience. The lodge serves coffee that is grown right on Molokai, as well as a selection of teas and juices. Soda and alcoholic beverages are not provided, but you may bring your own. (There is a good wine store in town).

• We distinctly do NOT attend to special dietary needs.
• We do offer a very fresh, healthy menu that is primarily vegetarian. Typically 3 meats (1 chicken, 1 grass fed beef and 1 fish) are offered during a 7-day workshop.
• Homemade yogurt, granola, breads, deserts, etc.-
• Fresh produce from our garden and the local farmers.
• We do provide GF options, but not always for each meal.
• Generally speaking, participants will weave through the buffet line (there are tent signs by the dishes) and select from the foods they can eat.
• For those that have more restrictive diets, such as purely vegan, we will not be able to accommodate your needs. And our capacity for providing refrigeration for guests ‘special dietary’ items is extremely limited.
• We do not have an allergen free kitchen for life threatening allergies such as peanuts or seafood. We do our best to prevent any cross contamination if we are made aware of allergies in advance.
• Dietary questions asked of each participant in their online enrollment. It is important that all participants complete this enrollment form at least a month prior to the workshop. We need to purchase any foods that are to be shipped by barge to arrive in time for the workshop. Organizing food on an island as small and isolated as ours does require extensive pre-workshop planning.

• In general the residents of Molokai are a friendly, welcoming community. During covid we have had very few travellers to our island and have just opened up this past summer. You’re showing respect and compassion by wearing masks whenever you are in public areas (inside and outside) is appreciated. Some of the families on island do benefit in some small ways financially by the island visitors and are grateful for this.
• A lot of the typical visitor attractions remain available with discretion being advised when it comes to numbers of people in an area. We have several beautiful beaches that often have very few people on them. Keeping space around other people or groups is highly recommended for all.
• Unlike other Hawaiian islands, Molokai does not have a lot of tourist attractions. The visitors that come to our island do so more to experience the lack of development and quiet, slower lifestyle here. Activities such as surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, diving, fishing, whale watching and hiking are what the locals do for activities. There are often vendors who can facilitate these activities. You will need to confirm the availability of these types of activities if your workshop has provided time to go off property.
