We’re excited to introduce a new experience for continuing participants who want to deepen the personal inquiry begun in the Initiation workshops by immersing themselves in an extended painting process as part of a community of others similarly committed to the work. The Immersion replaces and expands upon the Creative Challenge, a workshop for continuing painters offered in recent years. Immersions are held in specially selected retreat centers that allow a total respite from day-to-day distractions, allowing participants to focus wholeheartedly on exploring the wilderness of their innermost selves. Immersion enrollment is limited to 20 people to allow for individual attention to each person.
Real change paradoxically begins by being completely where you are. The week long Immersion provides a safe container in which to fully inhabit your experience — by meeting the edge of your own frontier, by allowing the condition of not-knowing without prematurely jumping on quick solutions, by finding the courage to release self-limiting attitudes and by discovering true completions and new beginnings.
As an Immersion participant, you’ll receive caring personal attention that builds upon your previous relationship with the Painting Experience. As with all our workshops, there will be a guide to personally work with and encourage you. Additionally, we will maintain a photographic record of your process in order to have the history of your exploration available to Stewart in follow-up sessions and subsequent workshops. A special guidebook, “The Art of Being,” written by Stewart is provided as a source of inspiring quotes, discussions and questions to be used on your journey. Lodging and meals are included, as are all materials and supplies. The Immersion includes one private session with Stewart during the workshop and two follow-up sessions by phone, during which you will have the opportunity to continue the inquiry begun during the workshop.

We will contact you prior to the Immersion to identify the concerns and desires that you’ll bring to the experience so that we can work very closely with you at the workshop. We’ll also assist you in arranging all details concerning travel and location.
