On the land surrounding Breitenbush you can camp, jog, bike, swim, and kayak. Your visit could also include a hike on one of the many trails heading along the rivers and up into the deep mountains. Only ten miles from the glacier slopes of Pahtoo (Mt. Jefferson), every trail leads to a rainbow of unexpected and exquisite natural beauty, many reached by foot from the retreat grounds.
Bodywork and a variety of movement and meditation classes are available during your stay.

Breitenbush provides rustic facilities in a pristine and remote location--ideal for allowing stress and routines to drop away, and providing retreatants an opportunity for deep focus and transformation. The simplicity of life at Breitenbush is one of our attractions. However, to make our rustic charm work to your advantage requires some advance planning. Please read the following information carefully so you know what to expect during your visit. Included is a checklist of what to bring & not bring.
CHECK-IN Time is 4 pm.
Your cabin will be available after 4 pm.
If you arrive after the Breitenbush office closes, your name and cabin number will be with the guest host or security person in the parking lot, AND posted on the office door.
The workshop begins with a Breitenbush orientation at 7:30 PM.
CHECK-OUT Time
Your belongings must be out of your cabin by 1 PM on the day you are leaving. Please plan to depart by 3 PM.
Breitenbush serves 3 organic vegetarian meals each day. Your meals begin with dinner on the first day and end with lunch on the last day. Any additional meals must be purchased through the Breitenbush office.
Breitenbush does *NOT* have a public phone available. The nearest public phone is in Detroit, OR, 20 minutes away. We are *NOT* in cellular phone range.

MEALS:
A single gong rung 3 times is the "get ready" bell. A double gong rung 3 times means the meal is ready. There is a 1/2 hour "get ready" time for breakfast and 15 minutes for lunch and dinner.
The kitchen prepares special diets for guests who prefer wheat, egg and/or dairy-free meals. PLEASE REQUEST THIS IN ADVANCE. You must provide for any additional dietary requirements you may have.

For urgent needs after office hours, you may use the radio in the Lodge Lobby. Switch it on and ask for Security.
DRINKING WATER
Filtered drinking water fountains are available at Medicine Wheel and Lodge Lobby year-round. Warm weather water fountains are between the cabin area and shower houses, and in front of the Villa/kitchen.
Breitenbush has 42 guest cabins, and areas to camp in your own tent or one of ours (camping from June-September only). All cabins have 2-3 beds (double, single or bunk) and are fitted with a clean bottom sheet. BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING. Bedding is not provided unless you choose to rent it. Please request bedding in advance.
Cabins are booked for double or triple occupancy. Therefore, if you are registering as a single, expect to share a cabin with someone of the same gender. each cabin has electricity and is heated geothermally. A few cabins have a toilet and sink. Those cabins without toilets have bathrooms in close proximity. There is a communal bathhouse with showers and a bathtub (one for men, one for women).
Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

If you are visiting Breitenbush between 1-Nov and 1-April, you are required by law (and common sense) to carry traction devices in your vehicle in case of snowy travel. Chains work best, be prepared & know how to put them on.
SMOKING
Permitted in designated outside areas only. NEVER inside any buildings.
BATHING HOURS & AREAS
SWIMSUITS are optional at all times in the bathing areas. most people choose to go without them, but please do what is most comfortable for you personally. Infants/toddlers still in diapers *must* wear a swimsuit diaper while in the hot springs. These are available to purchase through the Breitenbush store.
The hot tubs are available for use 24 hours-a-day, except when they are being cleaned. The Medicine Wheel tubs are cleaned 3 times a day, during meals. Far Meadow Pools is cleaned every Thursday, then as needed. Sauna is cleaned as needed.
HOT TUB/SAUNA CONSIDERATIONS:
*If you have a history of heart disease, it would be wise to consult your doctor before using the hot tubs.
* If you are pregnant, we urge you to be cautious in the use of the hot tubs, because of raising your core body temperature.
* All children 12 and under must be with a responsible adult at all times.
* Do not bring *any* food or glass to tubs or sauna.
* Do *not* use the the hot tubs or sauna if you have open sores.
* Please be cautious of becoming overheated or dehydrated from soaking too long. Drink a lot of water.
* Breitenbush recommends a 20-minute hot soak followed by a cold plunge. Ending with cold improves tonic effect.
* Please, *no explicit sexual contact* of any kind in the bathing areas.
